When Windwave commissioned us to create a high-impact display for Colnago at Rouleur Live, the goal was simple: provide a premium foundation that honored the “Ace of Clubs” heritage while meeting the technical demands of a world-class cycling exhibition.
The Brief: Elevating an Icon
Rouleur Live is where the world’s most prestigious cycling brands gather. For Windwave, a standard floor stand wasn’t an option. They needed a bespoke solution that would elevate the Colnago range—literally and figuratively—above the crowd at the Truman Brewery.
Our team designed a series of custom gallery bike plinths finished in a minimalist, satin midnight black. This finish was specifically chosen to absorb the intense overhead event lighting, ensuring the viewer’s focus remained entirely on the intricate paintwork of the Colnago frames.
Engineering the Display: Visibility & Durability
In exhibition design, the best work provides a seamless experience for the visitor. For the Colnago stand, we focused on three technical pillars to ensure the brand’s presence was felt:
- High-Traffic Durability: The Truman Brewery is a high-traffic environment, and Rouleur Live is known for its sell-out crowds. We engineered these plinths with a reinforced structure and a low center of gravity. This ensured that even when the stand was packed with enthusiasts, the display remained rock-solid and perfectly level.
- The “Hero Height” Perspective: By raising the range 60cm off the floor, we moved the bikes into the natural line of sight. This allowed attendees to appreciate details like the V4Rs’ aero lines and the vintage pursuit bike’s chrome lugs without the bikes being obscured by the moving crowd.
- Anti-Reflective Aesthetics: By using a specific satin midnight black, we eliminated the harsh “bounce-back” from photography flashes and stage lights. This allowed the vibrant UAE Team Emirates liveries and high-gloss carbon finishes to be photographed perfectly by the press and fans alike.
