When a global leader in motorcycle communication systems needs to launch a revolutionary new product, off-the-shelf furniture just won’t cut it.
We were recently approached by Cardo Systems with an exciting challenge: design and manufacture a bespoke display cabinet to showcase their new Beyond Helmet at Motorcycle Live 2025 in Birmingham.
Here is a behind-the-scenes look at how we took this project from a simple idea to a fully illuminated reality in our Bridgwater, Somerset workshop.

Phase 1: Concept & Design
Every great project starts with a conversation. Cardo sent us their initial vision for a trade show podium that would grab attention on a busy floor. They needed something sleek, branded, and capable of highlighting the intricate details of their new helmet technology.
Using 3D design software, our design team produced several mockups. This allows us to experiment with height, lighting angles, and proportions before a single piece of wood is cut. We presented Cardo with a few distinct options, refining the design until we had the perfect blueprint for the build.
Phase 2: Manufacturing in Somerset
Once the design was signed off, our exhibition stand builders in Somerset got to work transforming raw materials into the final structure.
The cabinet was constructed in a modular form. This is a crucial detail for trade show exhibitors; the unit needs to be sturdy enough to hold valuable merchandise but designed in a way that makes transport and future changes as easy as possible.

Phase 3: The Technical Details & Branding
To make the display truly pop, we integrated four separate sets of LED lights. These were strategically placed to create a “halo” effect on the floor, illuminate the internal display area, and make the branding glow.
Branding & Finish: We take brand identity seriously. The main body of the plinth was spray-painted in a custom mix, perfectly matched to Cardo’s specific brand colours.
For the logo, we utilized precision laser cutting on the front face of the raw MDF plinth before painting.

We then backed this cutout with opal acrylic. When the internal LEDs are activated, the light diffuses perfectly through the acrylic, making the “Cardo” logo glow crisply.

Phase 4: The Final Reveal at Motorcycle Live
The finished product made its journey from our Bridgwater workshop to the Motorcycle Live show at the NEC in November 2025.
Seeing the unit on the show floor is always the most rewarding part of the process. The illuminated plinth successfully drew the eye to the new Beyond Helmet, creating a premium focal point amidst the hustle and bustle of the exhibition.
