When your products are destined for the world’s most luxurious superyachts, the way you present them to the industry matters. Standard displays simply won’t do justice to high-end engineering.
For the past two years, we have had the pleasure of partnering with Carbinium Engineering, a company that designs and manufactures elite superyacht equipment. They needed custom plinths to showcase their stunning carbon fibre ladders at the prestigious METS Trade Show in Amsterdam, specifically within the highly competitive Superyacht Pavilion.
Here is a look at how we delivered a display solution that matched the prestige of their products, while saving them significant money on international shipping.
Project at a Glance:
- Client: Carbinium Engineering
- Event: METS Trade Show, Amsterdam (Superyacht Pavilion)
- Product: 3 Custom display plinths (Main unit: 1700mm x 1200mm x 1000mm)
- Key Features: CNC-precision socket holes, “nested” transport design, internal transit fixings.
Precision Engineering for a Perfect Fit
Exhibiting in the Superyacht Pavilion at METS means your stand is being judged by some of the most exacting buyers in the marine industry. The main display required a substantial plinth measuring 1700mm high, 1200mm wide, and 1000mm deep to properly showcase the scale and sleekness of their carbon fibre ladders.
Because the ladders attach using specialised stainless steel sockets, there was absolutely no room for error. We utilized our state-of-the-art Felder CNC machine to cut the socket holes with pinpoint accuracy, guaranteeing a flawless, secure fit for the hardware.

Smart Logistics: The “Russian Doll” Solution
In addition to the main plinth, the client required two smaller plinths (including one featuring custom curved edges). Shipping large, empty display boxes to Amsterdam can quickly become incredibly expensive. To solve this, our Somerset workshop team got creative with the internal engineering.
We designed the massive main plinth to act as a secure transport crate. We installed custom fixings directly inside the large unit, allowing the two smaller plinths to be securely locked inside it during transit.
This clever “nested” design provided three massive benefits for Carbinium Engineering:
- Reduced Shipping Costs: They only had to pay to ship one single item instead of three separate bulky units.
- Space Saving: It drastically reduced the footprint required on the transport lorry.
- Built-in Protection: The heavy-duty outer plinth acted as a protective shell, keeping the smaller display units safe from damage on their journey to the Netherlands.
Client Review: A Two-Year Partnership Built on Trust
When a client returns to us year after year for their most important international exhibitions, we know we have done our job right. Following another successful event in Amsterdam, we received this fantastic review from Ben Collett at Carbinium Engineering:
“Carbinium Engineering design and make superyacht equipment. We exhibit in the superyacht pavilion at the METS Trade Show in Amsterdam and for the last two years Exhibition Plinths have supplied custom plinths to allow us to display our carbon fibre ladders. Exhibition Plinths have proved very capable of making excellent quality plinths to suit our requirements, and the service and support from them has been fantastic.”
