9th Sep | Acrylic Display Cases
We were proud to work with The Space Vault, a fascinating exhibition dedicated to preserving and showcasing space exploration artefacts. The project required us to design and manufacture bespoke display units that combined strong presentation with interactivity and security.
The Brief
The Space Vault team wanted to create a display solution that allowed visitors to engage with digital content while viewing physical artefacts. Each unit needed to incorporate an information backboard with a tablet, alongside space for printed graphics. In front of this, a protective acrylic display case was required to house valuable artefacts safely. The entire structure needed to be secure, mobile, and visually seamless within the exhibition environment.
The Design & Build
Our team designed and manufactured the display units using MDF, spray-finished to achieve a seamless look. This gave the structures a clean, professional finish that complemented the futuristic theme of the exhibition. The protective display cases were made from clear acrylic, providing maximum visibility while keeping artefacts safe.
Each unit sat on a weighted base with integrated castors, allowing the exhibition team to move them easily as layouts changed. Despite being mobile, the weighted base ensured stability and safety for both the visitors and the artefacts.
Design Visualisation
Before manufacturing, our team created detailed SketchUp design drawings to plan the proportions, structure, and interactive features of the display units. These visuals helped The Space Vault team see exactly how the tablet backboard, acrylic case, and weighted base would come together in the finished product.

Practical Features
- Integrated tablet housing – giving visitors interactive access to exhibition information.
- Acrylic display case – protecting artefacts while keeping them fully visible.
- Spray-finished MDF structure – seamless, professional look.
- Weighted base with wheels – safe, stable, and easily mobile.
The Outcome
The final result was a suite of bespoke display units that brought together digital and physical experiences. Visitors could browse detailed content on the tablets while viewing artefacts up close, protected by the acrylic cases. The exhibition space benefited from displays that were secure, practical, and perfectly aligned with the theme of innovation and discovery.
